Alan Safran
Co-Founder and President | Chair of the Board of Directors

Alan has a 25 year career in public education, which followed 10+ years of prior legal and governmental work. In the public education sector, he served for 9 years as a leading official of the Massachusetts Department of Education, including a period as the Deputy Commissioner of Education for the state. He spent 12 years at Match Education, 9 years as the Executive Director of the Match Schools in Boston, MA, and over three years as the leader for the tutor dissemination work at Match Education. In the 1980s, he was a staff member of two United States Senate committees on foreign policy, and an Assistant DA in Queens, NY. He has a BA from Princeton University and a JD from the George Washington University National Law Center, is certified as school superintendent in MA, and is a member of the Bar of NY and MA.


Antonio Gutierrez
Co-Founder and VP of Marketing and Communications | Vice Chair of the Board of Directors

Antonio graduated from Union College with a full educational scholarship through the Posse Foundation. After graduating from Union in 2010, he served as a City Year corps member in Boston, MA, then joined Match Education in 2011 to launch the tutor dissemination unit with Alan Safran, where he focused on cultivating and establishing school and district partnerships and supporting the start-up and implementation of the program at all partner locations. He received his MBA from Boston University Questrom School of Business, specializing in public and nonprofit management and is a Board Member of Summer Search Boston.

Chris Dupuis
Chief Operating Officer & AmeriCorps Program Compliance Officer

Chris has worked in education over 20 years after earning his B.S. Biology degree from the University of Michigan. He taught math and science for 8 years in New Hampshire before joining the team at the Match School in Boston, MA. There he taught chemistry, AP Calculus, and AP Physics before transitioning to lead the grades 6-12 math and science teams as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. After 7 years with Match, Chris moved to the Netherlands to teach chemistry at the American School of the Hague, where he served for 5 years. There, he earned his M.A. in Education through Augustana College. He returned to the States in 2016 to join Team Saga full-time as the Chief Academic Officer, and now as its COO.


Angela Mason
Chief Human Resource Officer

Angela is the former National Director of Recruitment for SAGA Innovations, was the Director of Human Resources for the third largest school district in the United States and the former Director of Admissions and Recruitment for a major medical center in Chicago. She is a board member and mentor at several organizations in Chicago. She has a Masters degree in Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and English.


Monivett Acevedo
Chief Financial Officer and AmeriCorps Grant Compliance Officer

Monivett joins Saga with extensive experience in nonprofit accounting and finance management. Prior to Saga, she was leading the Finance team at Boston Plan for Excellence (BPE) as the Director of Financial Planning & Accounting over the last five years. She is an alumna of the Core Program at the Institute for Nonprofit Practice, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Northeasten’s D’Amore Mckim Business School. Monivett aims to continually merge her academic and career learnings with her desire to support and build education and social systems that advance equity.
